some scenario never further developed

Zeitgeist Scenario:

All life on earth evolved in the context of the seeding of the planet, X years ago (research 1) by a naturally evolved (critical question mark?) sentient race currently occupying a spaceborne cryogenic chamber/biome/starfaring Vessel X miles from the earth. The planet was seeded with biomechanical toxins designed to terraform the biosphere of the planet to make it amenable to The Vessel contains a colonization population of X aliens rotating in a cycle of stasis and a biologically active maintenance state.

Aliens are heavily biologically self-modified entities, built on a naturally evolved substrate organism. Their oldest are 8 - 12 thousand years (minus stasis) and their absolute lifespan is unknown. They cannot reproduce in any conventional sense because their DNA-analog has been too heavily modified to suport viable union via sexual reproduction. To strip their DNA of these modifications would mean desctruction of the organism and they will not sacrifice their lives for progeny. Their brains have access and intimate interconnection with vast networks of artificial near-intellegence. They possess technology to make a functional hologram of the brain that captures its exact chemical state at the moment of capture and can, when slaved to a sufficient processing array, generate responses indistinguishable from the living mind. These can in turn be connected to a variety of peripherals, are arguably true AI, are capable of action indistinguishable from will, but are slaved in a real sense: the living organisms control the technology of transference and therefore the recorded entities.

Aliens are defined by politics. They are a subset of a central galactic race who left their home planet as a faction to seek a position of greater exploitable power. They remain constrained by the politics of a central galactic federation of races which currently controls the galaxy (these are, more or less, the good guys). They selected earth as a base of operations based on the fact that it had developable congeniality to their biological component (the purpose of terraforming), desirable proximity/orientation to the sun and magnetic field properties, and relative proximity to very exotic resources (research). They wish to colonize earth, but they are constrained by a single inviolable rule: the only way they can interact with earth is through the manipulation of information.

this is what is up with this.
